GeneRaLs Batrider Riding Wild
GeneRaL’s Batrider - Ridin’ Wild!
Recently, a new member joined our Dota 2 lineup - Victor "GeneRaL" Nigrini, an expert player that has proven to be an excellent mid laner during his career. If someone thought that his performance would change once moved to the offlane, the events of the recent days have proven otherwise - in fact, Na'Vi scored several victories in WePlay League and Dota Pit, and more will follow in the next days. In one of his interviews, Dendi said that a professional player can perform well at every role; GeneRaL, with his actions, demonstrated that his words speak the truth. Each result is achieved through hard work and training - no one can be successful without doing his best to adapt and improve. GeneRaL explained us that in the previous days he dedicated his time “crushing all pubs” as offlaner and that his personal favorite heroes at the moment are Earthshaker and Batrider.
We got a taste of his skill with Batrider against Mamas Boys, Vega Squadron and Power Rangers, where thanks to his contribution and coordination with the the rest of the team, Na'Vi resulted victorious!
There aren’t many games available on the table, so the actual stats aren’t very accurate, but it’s nice to have a first close look at his hero - all the competitive stats are taken fromDatDota. With Na'Vi he played Batrider 4 times, with a 100% win rate - he is already in the top 10 of the patch for GPM and XPM. If we consider all players with at least 4 games, he is also the one that has the highest win rate. The small number of picks and the different kind of enemies that each team faced partly distorts these statements, but you must also consider that on average, the players that picked Batrider played roughly 3-6 games the most, with just two exceptions which have gone up to 8 and 10. Our team will face more enemies during this month so GeneRaL will have again the chance to show his strength to the world - HellRaisers and Team Spirit are our next opponents.
Update: Our team scored a convincing victory against HR as well, where GeneRaL played Batrider for the fifth time in a few days. Each statistic mentioned above acquires even more value and our offlaner continues to hold a perfect score with this hero!
The three most popular skill builds (utilized in 44% of the total games) for Batrider in the competitive scene in v6.86 don’t include Flamebreak in the first seven levels. Also, in pub games, according to Dotabuff, the most used ability build puts a point into Flamebreak only after maxing out the other skills. GeneRaL followed the same route in half of his games with us, while in the others he prefered to put a skill point into this ability the first time at level 4 and the second, at level 7.
With this hero, mobility is the key so the item choice is very important. He bought the same fundamental items in each game: Blink Dagger and Force Staff. As boots he prefered the Tranquil Boots in 3 different games and later on he built a Eul’s Scepter, in 2 games, for improved survivability and movement speed, at about 28 minutes on average. When possible, in late game he picked a Black King Bar and an Aghanim’s Scepter: it isn’t always possible to buy these items because the hero isn’t supposed to stay idle and farm, Batrider is a very active hero who must repeatedly try to create good gank opportunities for his team.
In the last months Batrider hasn’t been a popular pick in competitive games, but the situation is reverting. In v6.85 he only had a 10.9% draft rate but the value increased up to 38.8% in the new patch; in particular in the last 15 days he jumped to 63% ban + pick rate, considering the last data he is already a Tier 1 hero. It’s funny to think that almost every year, with the approach of The International, Batrider suddenly returns into the meta - we wish good luck to our GeneRaL and hope he will safely ride till there!
